For many years, I thought of what I could do to make the world a better place. Most of the time, I ended up feeling discouraged and overwhelmed with the magnitude of the whole idea. At some
point, I realized that the reason for this was because I assumed that I didn’t have the financial resources to save the world. Well, I don’t. But isn’t that the excuse we all make?
I don’t want to make excuses anymore. Born and brought up in Africa, I know how difficult life can be for African women. I also believe deep in my heart, that the key to changing the face of Africa is tackling women issues. The Taa Foundation is a project whose objective is to help vulnerable women especially single mothers and widows to help themselves. For those of you who have read my book, ‘Taa’ is the name of one of the protagonists and simply means lamp or light in Swahili! The idea is to help these women to start an income generating activity or business by funding their business idea. I have done this before at a private level with measured success. While there is micro-credit banking in many parts of Africa, it is not an option for many really poor people.
I will keep you posted on what's happening in this regard....
